Harrison Family Vets poised for expansion

Independent veterinary group Harrison Family Vets plans to open five new settings in 2027.

The group launched in Reading in 2021 and has since expanded into Kingswinford, Manchester, Middlesbrough, Doncaster, Wigan, Leeds, Stoke, Sheffield and Newcastle.

Managing director Tim Harrison said: “We’re expanding into Darlington later this year and we plan to open in five more locations next year, which will create further opportunities for talented and ambitious clinic directors, vets, nurses and care coordinators to join our team.”

The group has built its proposition around independent ownership, modern facilities and affordable care. “We launched Harrison Family Vets knowing there was room in the market for an independent group, with modern, state-of-the-art practices that provide outstanding, affordable veterinary care focused on the wellbeing of pets and their owners,” said Harrison.

Animal welfare and stress reduction sit at the centre of the model. Features include calming ambient lighting, dedicated pet waiting pods, separate dog and cat wards and carefully planned consultation spaces created to provide a more relaxed and reassuring experience for both pets and their owners.

The group’s Reading practice became the first veterinary practice outside North America to achieve Fear Free Veterinary Practice Certification, in 2023, with other locations subsequently passing the assessment and team members completing Fear Free professional accreditations. The certification scheme focuses on reducing fear, anxiety and stress in animals during veterinary visits.
